players from HFC’s Elite teams have been signed with top college
programs in the Southeast. We are very proud of these
players and their commitment to achieving their best. All of
these players have made sacrifices to balance the demands of
school and athletics in the pursuit of a college opportunity.

on their signing day with UA Huntsville.

Klaire Phillips (HFC
95Girls Blue) signs with UAH Chargers!
Klaire
Phillips hails from Athens High School where the 5-11 defender
has been a key part of the program's immense success. Phillips
joined Morgan in being named the 2012 Athens News Courier
Co-Player of the Year, and she was an honorable mention
all-state selection after the 2012 campaign.

Sparkman
High School soccer player Caitlin Walters (HFC
95Girls Blue) has committed to play
college soccer for Shorter University and Coach Jennifer Cooley. Shorter
University is a Christian university located in Rome, GA.
The Senator’s senior midfielder first visited the Rome, GA campus in the
Fall of 2012. She was fortunate to sit in on a few classes, meet the
entire team and attend a home match. Caitlin was also able to attend a
team training session and a few team bonding activities. Shortly after
that visit, Caitlin gave her verbal commitment to Coach Cooley.
The Lady Hawks have been recently promoted to the Gulf South Conference
(GSC) in NCAA Division II and nearly made their first playoff berth.
They were honored with the NSCAA Team Academic Award in both 2009 and
2010. In addition to playing soccer, Caitlin plans to major in Pre-Med.
The university’s warm atmosphere, focus on education and its passion to
support student athletes will make Caitlin feel right at home.
Congratulations Caitlin! We are proud of you and know that you will
represent Sparkman High School well. |

Kristina Zita (HFC
95Girls Blue) signs with Martin Methodist
RedHawks! Kristina is from Fayetteville, TN, is a 5-3 defender
/ wing player, maintains a 3.7 GPA, will be pursuing a degree in
the medical profession at MMC. She is an active member of the
BETA, HOSA organizations.

Cassidy Ortman
(HFC 96Girls Blue)
has committed to play for Tennessee Tech. Cassidy was
recruited to play center back for them. TTU is D1 and plays in
the OVC against teams like Jacksonville State where former HFC
players Sidney Keller and the Clausen twins are/will be
playing. |

Melody Dodd
(HFC 95 Maroon)
has signed a scholarship to play for UAH Chargers.
Melody led the Maroon with 34 goals and was a key player leading
the Maroon to the Florabama Tournament Silver Championship and
D2 State Championship.

Jonathan Trinh
(HFC 95Boys Blue)
will be signing to attend the University of Alabama in
Huntsville (UAH).

Emily Rhodes
(HFC
95Girls Blue)
- UAH Women's Soccer
A 5-10 goalkeeper from Hazel Green High School, Emily Rhodes has
also played for Huntsville Futbol Club where she has been a
three-year captain of her team, and she helped guide that squad
to championships at the 2012 Tennessee Cup, Florabama Tournament
and the Kicks Tournament.

Player Commits to Division I
Rebecca Copeland (HFC
'96 Girls Blue) has committed to play for Georgia State
University in the Fall of 2014. Rebecca is a junior at Grissom
High School where she maintains a 3.8 GPA, is a member of the
United Way Youth Leadership Council, and is a fourth year
varsity soccer player. Rebecca was recruited in both Alabama and
Region III ODP events, CASL and Disney College Showcases, and by
participating in Region III Southern Premiere League.
Rebecca was also listed in the Top 10 "Players to Watch" in
South by Topdrawer Soccer throughout 2012. Georgia State who is
coached by Derek Leader, the former Associate Head Coach for
SMU, is a Division I program in Atlanta that is moving to the
Sun Belt Conference next year. Before his stint at SMU, Leader
spent 12 years as women's soccer head coach and assistant
director of the IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, FL.
