HFC 96 &
95Boys Blue Competed in
the NCAA Men’s Final Four College Showcase
Both teams competed and represented
HFC well for the most part in the NCAA Men’s Final Four
College Showcase in event BHAM. Some of the boys were able
to go watch the quality and highly entertaining Semis and
Finals of the NCAA Men’s College Soccer at the Hoover
Stadium. HFC offers our elite/potential college bound
players a chance to showcase themselves in front of college
coaches at such events. Though the participation was not at
the levels that HFC desires, those committed players that
want a chance at the next level fought very hard in all 3
games. The ’95 boys team finished with a record of 0-2-1 BUT
where very competitive in every game and the ’96 boys
finished with a record of 1-2-0 having had only 12 players
able to make the trip counting 3 keepers!! Special thanks to
John Stewart Overton (United Soccer Club - CM), Peter Morse
(Shoal Soccer Club - GK), and Tyler Posey(HFC’97 Blue Boys -
GK) - ALL 3 of these guest players did a fantastic job!! The
boys now are off to high school soccer and a combined group
of ’96 and ’95 boys will be participating in the Concorde
Fire College ID camp in January before the official high
school season kicks off. Great job guys!!!

94Girls Light Blue
Champions at Norcross Nike Cup
Congratulations to the HFC 94 "Light Blue" girls team which
finished 4-0 and won their division at the Norcross Nike
Cup. This team was made up of players from the D2 State
Champion HFC 94 White, D1 State Finalist 94 Blue team and a
former HFC and current BUSA player. Many of these girls
were playing their final club tournament after years of
playing with Samba, HSC and Kicks and like our other teams
represented HFC well. The girls were challenged by Coach
Warner to play a very aggressive 3-4-3 formation and because
of their ability to adapt and adjust on the fly were able to
dominate play scoring 16 goals in 4 games. Like our other
December tournament teams, several younger girls were
noticed by college coaches attending the games and are now
on the radar for possible scholarships in the future. Good
luck to our seniors, who will soon be heading to the next
chapter of their lives....HFC is proud of you.
HFC
97Girls Blue
finish with a 2-1-0 record at the Final Four College
Showcase in Atlanta
Congratulations again to the HFC 97 Girls Blue
and Coach James for finishing
with a 2-1-0 record at the Atlanta Final Four Girls College
Showcase. The girls ONLY loss was
against PDA out of New Jersey and that game could also have
been in the win column should we have converted the numerous
chances that went to waste. The girls represented HFC and
themselves very well and had a lot of quality moments out
there on the fields. The girls will now start preparing for
their final R3PL-C games against Tennessee in January, 2012
with a goal of trying to win or seeding very high in R3PL-C.
HFC
96Girls Blue finish with
a 1-1-1 record at the Final Four College Showcase in Atlanta
A great effort again by the HFC 96 Blue Girls - 2011
State Champs saw them finish with a 1-1-1 record at the
Atlanta Final Four Soccer College Showcase. The girls were
highly competitive and could have easily won all 3 games if
it wasn’t for the numerous missed scoring opportunities. At
all 3 games, the girls got a chance to play in front of
several college coaches again – which is the main reason why
HFC offers the opportunity to our elite teams to take part
in these college showcases. The girls will continue training
through the month of January, 2012. |
HFC 97Girls Blue goes
undefeated at the CASL Girls College Showcase in Raleigh NC
Congratulations to the HFC 97 Girls Blue Team for
going undefeated in the “U15 Girls Elite AdiPure Bracket” at
the CASL Girls College Showcase. The girls ended up with a
record of 3-0-0 after having scored 8 goals and only
allowing in 1 goal! All 3 games were against well coached
teams and were hard fought battles…The girls represented HFC
and themselves very well and had a lot of quality moments
out there on the fields. The girls are now headed to the GSA
Adidas College Women’s Showcase that will be held December
2-4, 2011 in ATL.
HFC
96Girls Blue finish
with a 0-1-2 record at the CASL Girls College Showcase in
Raleigh NC
A great effort by the HFC 96 Blue Girls -
2011 State Champs show them finish with a 0-1-2 record in
the “U16 Girls Elite AdiPure Bracket” at the CASL Girls
College Showcase. The girls played a great brand of soccer
in the first 2 games that saw them tying both games 1-1, and
2-2 BUT had plenty of opportunities to win both of those
games. They lost the 3rd game 0-7 to a well-coached,
talented, and highly physical team from Canada that had a
number of Canada U16 Youth Players. At all 3 games, the
girls got a chance to play in front of several college
coaches – which is the main reason why HFC offers the
opportunity to our elite teams to take part in these college
showcases. The girls are now headed to the Atlanta Final 4
Girls College Showcase that will be held December 2-4, 2011

What doe HFC Soccer Players and Athletes in Ghana
Africa have in common?
The love of soccer and the need for cleats to play in. HFC
players have the opportunity to help soccer players in Ghana
Africa. Any used cleats that are in decent condition can be
put on the feet of soccer players in another part of the
world. All sizes are needed.

Walt Chzowych
Award
My nine year old daughter Emma Houssain
attended a soccer camp this past week called Ralph
Lundy, at West Georgia University. This is an
intense, soccer only camp for serious players that
attracts boys and girls ages 9-17 from throughout the
Southeast.
There were over 350 campers in
attendance, and Emma was the very youngest. We were
apprehensive (or at least I was, my husband was fine!)
about sending her to such an intense camp at such a
young age. And this was her very first time away from
home, but she did great! When I visited the day
before camp closed, the other players and coaches seemed
to really enjoy Emma, and the coaches shared with me how
tough she was for such a youngster. Of course, as
a parent, it is hard to tell if coaches make comments
like these to make parents feel good about their
children.
The next day, I attended closing
ceremonies. At every camp session they award one camper
the "Walt Chzowych Award" for the "individual at camp
that the coaching staff feels has had the best attitude,
actions and competitive spirit in the game."
As we're sitting in the sun watching
the closing ceremonies, along with 350+ children and
their parents, the speaker stated that for the first
time since they began this award, they could not narrow
it down to just one player. I was absolutely
shocked and amazed when Emma's name was called out as
only one of two recipients! On her
evaluation, the coaches noted "for being 9 years old,
you were one of our top players. Your skill level
is beyond your years; if you keep this up you'll be
amazing." I thought Emma did such a great job
representing North Alabama!
She is wonderful child that has
straight A's at Heritage Elementary and is in the
Enrichment Program. She plays piano and has a
little sister named Claire who just turned 5, who wants
to be just like her big sister She has been
playing soccer since the age of 4. She currently
plays club soccer with the Huntsville Futbol Club, and
her
HFC club team recently
won a tournament in East Ridge, TN.

HFC 93 Girls Maroon (2010-11) & HFC 92 Girls Blue (2009-10)
player Danielle Berryman signed a scholarship
Tuesday, March 15th to play college soccer for Faulkner
University. Danielle joined the HFC family in 2009 after her
family transferred to the Huntsville area from Chattanooga.
Prior to her affiliation with HFC, Danielle played high school
soccer at Boyd-Buchanan and club soccer for East Ridge Soccer
Association (ERSA). A senior at Madison Academy where she is a
defensive starter and captain, Danielle plans to study the

Directors Henry Mpagi &
James Ssemambo earn National Youth Coaching License-
Feb 2011
The National Youth License is designed to provide club
directors of coaching, youth coaches, physical education
teachers, and soccer administrators with the knowledge to
successfully structure soccer environments for children aged
4-12. The role of the coach as a facilitator is explored;
the physical, mental and emotional needs and capabilities of
players from 4-12 are explored; the lessons from
developmental psychology are explored; and the art of
teaching is explored. Candidates are videotaped for analysis
during live training sessions. Both HFC directors earned
this prestigious certification February 2011 and both have
noted it was the most difficult and challenging course they
have ever attended.
